Meet the Owner

Hello! My name is Michael Lilly-Eason. I have been a quilt enthusiast for well over 20 years.

I am married, and we have two teenage, young adult children. We also have two great danes who rule our home, and we go all out for Christmas with up to 20 Christmas trees in our house each year!

I found quilting in my early 20’s. My first quilt was an assembly of wool squares given to me by my aunt. I borrowed my mothers old Singer sewing machine with no clue at all what I was doing. I knew literally nothing about sewing, a sewing machine, needles, thread, and least of all fabric. Even though the first quilt was an ugly one, the quilting bug had already bitten, and I was hooked!

I was introduced to Modern Quilting last year with Quilt Con 2024 in Raleigh, NC being my first deep dive. The amount of inspiration was incredible and overwhelming.

One of my favorite types of quilting is English Paper Piecing. This is something I always thought I couldn’t do, that I didn’t have the skills needed. But just like I approached my first quilt, I jumped into EPP with no idea what I was doing. I have worked with all the traditional pieces.

Hexagons, Triangles, Diamonds, etc. I love working with them but found myself wanting to explore other options. With my introduction to Modern Quilting concepts I started to play with making my own shapes. I allowed myself to play with drawing straight lines on paper with no pattern in mind. This has given way to more freedom to create more artistic pieces.

I am currently working on designing and publishing my own EPP Patterns, and I am so excited to be able to share this EPP method with you! I hope you will find this process just as fun and fascinating as I do! In my workshops we will explore ideas of shapes that can be created, and the creative use of fabric. How the two combined can create some interesting pieces! Adding another skill to your quilting toolbox!

My ultimate goal is to make EPP more accessible, and help people realize it is not as hard as it seems. Anyone can do it and be successful at it!
